At our “Leading by Example” conference on March 11, 2026, Efficiency Manitoba announced their newest incentive for ground source heat pumps under the affordable home energy program! This latest incentive supports replacement of exiting ground source heat pumps through on bill financing and incentives and reflects the collaboration of Efficiency Manitoba and the industry.
This new incentive will provide homeowners a $5,000 incentive in addition to a $13,500 interest free loan, payable on their Manitoba Hydro bill at $75 for 15 years. More information will be available in the coming weeks.

As members of this industry know well and as we’ve heard from multiple people this morning, ground source heat pumps have been installed across Manitoba for decades. Many of those early systems are now reaching the end of their life cycle and the industry has been very clear with us about the challenges that customers are facing at that juncture – replacing those systems can be significantly more expensive when compared to installing conventional equipment which can lead customers to convert to less efficient options.”
